Talking the walk

Lynne McTaggart

A few years ago, I wrote why I won’t be participating in a Moonwalk for breast cancer, and worth saying it again. All across the world people are lining up to do the Walk the Walk Moonwalk—in May in the UK, in November in New York. The ads have been on the radio, making the battle cry, firing up the pink army troops: “For together, we will beat breast cancer.”

During these events, hundreds of thousands of women will be showing up in parks across America and Britain on a Saturday at midnight in their pink bras, and march, arms linked, in the moonlight in the great conviction that they are doing something meaningful and important in the fight against the great woman killer.
We too would very much like to support the sisterhood and beat breast cancer. Plenty of my close friends are women who have gone through breast cancer. One in eight women gets breast cancer, which translates into nearly a quarter of a million cases this year in the US alone. One in six women who have breast cancer dies from it every year. It’s one of the most common cancers out there.
The thing is, I won’t be out there in my pink bra for one simple reason: the main ‘charities’ that benefit from the Moonwalk funds are part of the reason we’re not beating breast cancer.
The American Cancer Society and Cancer Research UK receive a good deal of their funds from the pharmaceutical industry, and the pharmaceutical industry is mainly interested not in vanquishing cancer, but in selling ever more expensive types of chemotherapy. They, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA, populated with ex-Big Pharma employees) and the government together form an effective blockade of any promising new cancer treatments.
Ask Frank Wiewal about moonwalks. Frank started People Against Cancer to help people find promising alternative treatments after his father-in-law died from cancer—not because he wasn’t successfully beating his disease, but because the US government outlawed the promising treatment that was working for him. Without the ability to carry on with this treatment, he died.
Or ask my husband Bryan Hubbard. An alternative cancer specialist in the UK successfully reversed my mother-in-law Edie’s end-stage breast cancer, and she lived on for many more years. The doctor who treated her successfully had treated thousands of others. He offered to show the medical authorities his highly successful treatment protocols. The response was not just silence—but threats to shut him down.
Most alternative cancer specialists have been harassed by the UK General Medical Council or forcibly retired. In the States they’ve been put in jail or forced to practice offshore.
Here’s what I propose as an alternative to a Moonwalk:
A midnight boycott march against prescribed female hormones of every variety. One major reason that breast cancer is so common is simple: The Pill and HRT. Just say no to them until the government finally tells the whole truth about these drugs: they cause cancer. Tell every woman you know to stop taking these drugs for a month. Besides giving you cancer, they make many women fat and depressed. There are plenty of safer alternatives to birth control or hormone regulation.
Ditto, a boycott on breast implants. Incredibly, it took 40 years for the FDA to finally regulate breast implants. They’re still lying about the dangers of silicone, which has finally been shown to migrate throughout the body.
Donate your charity money to alternative cancer organizations like People Against Cancer ( or Cancer Active ( Both provide exhaustive information about alternatives with solid evidence that works.
Boycott processed foods, including ‘free-from’ foods and so-called ‘natural’ flavors. All these foods are full of chemicals and omega-6 fatty acids, which can cause inflammation and eventually cancer.
Eat organic. Increasingly, in my work, I am discovering that many common foods and plants and oils are among the most potent disease fighters out there. Believe it or not, a batch of essential oils has just been scientifically demonstrated to cure Lyme disease. In terms of cancer treatments, many simple plant foods leave chemotherapy and other ‘heroic’ drug-based treatments in the dust.
Talk up alternative medicine as a campaign issue. Exhort governments to stop demonizing homeopathy and other alternative treatments as ‘unscientific.’ Even the National Cancer Institute labeled a study of homeopathic treatments for cancer used in India as ‘promising.’ WDDTY once wrote a big story on homeopathy, comparing the positive outcomes of homeopathic scientific trials to trials of major drugs. The percentages were virtually identical.
- Demand that the Big Pharma and Big Food good ol’ boys that populate the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control be fired, replaced by truly independent bodies that will watch the public’s back when it comes to drugs. Those two agencies kill more people than ISIS ever will.
It’s time to realize that despite all the good intentions and rationales and prettily turned phrases, the current blasting-burning paradigm for treating cancer just doesn’t work. And once we all admit that, we can all start walking forward.

  1. Thank you ! I fully support your perspective, and the thought that I found particularly potent was: Demand that the Big Pharma and Big Food good ol’ boys that populate the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control be fired, replaced by truly independent bodies that will watch the public’s back when it comes to drugs. Those two agencies kill more people than ISIS ever will." However - to the degree that we women keep taking these 'Drugs' we are compliant with the 'Big Boys' !! It is the women that need to STOP taking these things - a sort of "ME TOO' movement spreading across the world ! THEN the Big Pharma, FDA and Centers for Disease Control will have to change. Most real change happens from the ground up - we women are the ground !

  2. THANK YOU !! I've worked in the alternative field for a long time and what you are saying is spot on! There is so much I could say about it but you said it perfectly.

  3. Thank you, Lynne! It is so important for us all to stand up and speak out against the stupid and profiteering behavior of our so-called government protection agencies. I am sure we can work this agenda into our 2019 PO8 Masterclass!

  4. When I try to tell people why I won’t donate or support a walk or event, they usually don’t believe me and think I’m falling for crazy conspiracy stories. It’s hard for them to believe how ‘wrong’ their belief is, and the lies being told. Some day it will all be out for everyone, keep talking!

  5. Hello Lynne,
I look forward to joining you in this year's Power of Eight Intention Masterclass.
It is the case that established medical authorities engage in brutal suppression of ideas they do not approve of, including legitimate research and researchers that contradict them. I am personally aware of some extremely bad behavior on the part of such entities.
I write about medical topics with emphasis on corruption of and by big Pharma and on nonprescription treatments for health and remedying illness. Everything I write is thoroughly backed up by references to the literature. I have written over one dozen articles. Here are a couple of examples:
When Good Doctors Prescribe Bad Medicine
How Big Pharma pollutes the scientific record and propagandizes doctors.
Vitamins and Minerals for Bone Health and Reduced Risk of Cancer
You have made some very interesting statements. I would be interested in relevant references to further research things you have said.
    Best regards,

  6. Powerfully articulated. A rousing and courageous call that mirrors my own sentiments. Deep thanks Lynne and Brian for daring to stand up and voice these uncomfortable truths.

  7. EXCELLENT! Thank you Lynne for your fabulously concise way of expressing a great deal of vitally important information.

  8. Finally, someone in the public eye not afraid to say how it is! Bravo and thank you.

  9. Many years ago it was reported that Mother Teresa was asked to march in a protest against the Vietnam war. She declined saying, " I will not march against the war, when you have a march for Peace I will join you." There is no energy in negativity.

  10. While, as a practicing oncologist in India I would agree with you that to a certain extent the big pharma companies may be pushing their expensive treatment for cancer, I am not too sure about the efficacy of so called alternative systems.
And, at least, in India they are free to promote their system of medicine!
And why is that I am yet to see any promising alternative to allopathy when I would be immensely happy to see that my patients with cancer get cured by whatever means?
I do really expect and intend that we find inexpensive effective treatment not only for cancer but also for all other chronic diseases!

  11. Great article, I'd love to see the info in the oils that have been proven to cure Lyme? I've been recovering (slowly) from Lyme for the last 5 years! xx

  12. Thank you for using your platform to inform people about Big Pharma's blockade of alternative cancer treatments. There is a series of videos available online, "The Truth About Cancer" by Ty Bollinger, that outlines these truths and what and where alternative treatment modalities and clinics exist.
