The God Notes has entered the building! A few days ago, copies of my new book finally arrived and HarperOne has done a beautiful job! I’m so proud of what I feel is my best book since The Field, with implications even more far-reaching.
In honor of my new book’s arrival, I’d like to read you a section of chapter 1, which is all about a hunt for God Notes, taken by the late Dr. Robert Jahn, the former dean of engineering at Princeton University, whom I’ve written about in several books.
Jahn, you may remember, was the architect (with the late psychologist Brenda Dunne) of the PEAR research project, the most comprehensive mind over matter research in history.
Late in his career, he became interested in the acoustics of 4000-6000 year old ancient ritual sites and was astonished to find that all those he tested resonated to the exact same note.
Here’s a bit of that story, which led him – and now me – to delve further into how sound creates the world and which notes are good for us and which ones, decidedly bad.
