A member of our community has nominated Diana Magally Ramirez Gordillo, aged 53, from Ibague, Colombia for an Intention of the Week. Here is her story:
‘Four years ago, Diana was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy (MSA), a rare disorder caused by progressive degeneration of neurons in several parts of the brain.
‘The illness started with trembling in her right arm. Nowadays, her urinary system, motor skills, voice, equilibrium, lungs are all affected and have deteriorated markedly.
‘Life expectancy is 7-10 years, of which, she’s probably already lived 4-5 with poor quality due to the illness progression. According to the doctor, the illness is very advanced.’
