Brenda Rowe of London, Ontario, Canada, has written to us about her circumstances:
‘I don't know how this happened to me. I got out of bed one morning in July 2010 and suddenly started screaming in agonizing pain. My son called an ambulance.
‘I was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff. My doctor says that I have calcification between the second and third vertebrae in my neck. He thinks a disc has slipped and is pinching a nerve.
‘I have pain from my neck, across my shoulder and down the outerside of my right arm. I'm right-handed and I play the Celtic Harp, and can drive a stick shift, but I haven't been able to do much of anything for months.
‘I believe in miracles, and the power of collective thought, and I hope I can get my life back.
‘A physiotherapist told me I don't have any core-strength, and I've overextended my muscles.’
