A member of our community has nominated, Rob Bruikman, aged 61, from Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, for an Intention of the Week. Here is his story:

‘Rob recently started living in a supervised housing program. Previously, he lived independently with substantial help from his parents and brother. His parents always wanted him to live as normally as possible.

After the death of his parents, Rob struggled significantly and ended up in crisis care due to severe depression and was under psychiatric treatment with many medications.

Currently, Rob is having a hard time with the situation and cannot accept that he needs help, expressing a wish to die. Rob is intellectually disabled and sees no light at the end of the tunnel.

After a long journey, Rob is currently free from medications, which he did not respond well to. We are missing any opportunities for the appropriate guidance for Rob.’
